About Us

Studio E is an independent goldsmith business which currently specializes in custom jewelry design work. The business was formed by Raymond White and Michael Knoll in 1989 as R.L. White Goldsmith, a respected and successful partnership that lasted over a decade.  When Raymond took leave to pursue other interests, Michael took charge, investing in new technologies and advanced techniques to transform Studio E Jewelry into one of the most respected design workshops in the Midwest.

Meet The GOLDSMITH

Michael Knoll has built a substantial reputation in the Twin Cities jewelry trade for exceptional quality, service, honesty and integrity. Michael’s mission is to become the preferred supplier of choice for high quality distinctive jewelry collections. He does this by exceeding expectations in all aspects of their business, consistently delighting his customers.

Michael graduated from Minneapolis Technical College in 1979, specializing in Fine Jewelry Design and Manufacturing. In the thirty years since this time he has dedicated himself to honing his skills and experience as a fine jewelry designer and goldsmith.  He has worked with a rich variety of jewelry manufacturing firms and garnered a collection of local and national recognition for his work.

Michael has been certified by the Gemological Institute of America, Santa Monica, CA for Diamond Grading and Evaluation.  Michael's design work earned him a 1996 Professional Goldsmith Award from the Minnesota Jewelers Association.  In 1997 he was one of five national finalists in the American Jewelry Design Council’s “Best New Talent” competition.  In addition, he is one of the few artisans in the nation to be honored by the Jewelers of America with a certification of Master Bench Jeweler, in 2002.
